Last night was the final of ‘The Great Interior Design Challenge’ and I hot footed it up to London to Daniel Hopwood’s studios for the end of show party. Despite foul weather, rail disruptions, tube strike and chaotic London mad traffic we all gathered to watch the final live while sipping celebration bubbles.
It was amazing to meet all the other contestants and also to see the crew and judges again. We had all been talking so much over the Twitter waves that it felt more like meeting old friends than new folk. It was great to share stories of our design antics and of our homeowners (don’t even go there!!) It was like one big Interior Design Love in!!
I just wanted to take time today to mention about the two fantastic finalists who both did amazing rooms and tell you where you can find more information on them.
Sarah Moore has a fantastic website www.sarahmoorehome.co.uk where you can see more of Sarah’s amazing vintage inspired work and even buy some of her lovely things. Sarah has an amazing eye for print and I love the way she combines textiles together in a way that you think wont work but totally does with the ‘Sarah’ touch.I think the blue spare bedroom that she designed in the finial was one of my favourites. Sarah also has several books which you can buy on the website and they are well worth a read for inspiration. Well done Sarah on winning, I am sure we will be seeing lots and lots of Sarah in the future.
Jordan Cluroe always impressed me with his rooms, his use of colour and creativity was fab, I just loved the light base he used from children’s plastic toys, and the way he two tone painted the vintage cabinet in Brighton. Jordan has a website with his partner Russell Whitehead www.2lovelygays.com which showcases their work. Check out the gorgeous green wall mural in the hall of his house its fantastic. As if being a creative genius was not enough Jordan and Russell own and run St Davids Coffee House in Forrest Hill.It looks like it not only serves amazing coffee and cake but is designed to be a place just perfect to stop and chill while having a caffeine injection.. Jordan has even done the artwork on the website.
So people keep an eye on these two I think big things will be coming their way and if you have a job for them quick give them a call before you have to join a wait list!…. and the prices rocket! Good luck Jordan and Sarah.
Right a few pics of the night………
I for one am feeling a little jaded after a late night, so its coffee break time for me.
Have a good wet and windy day all.
