If you have ever thought of popping over to Henley-on-Thames, this weekend would be a good weekend to choose, especially if you’re a creative soul! Henley is hosting its first ever ‘Create Festival’. The idea behind the festival is a weekend devoted to showcasing local designer makers, products and skills and celebrating creativity.
Across the town there will be ‘Creative things’ happening from the shops decorating their windows in the most creative way they can, to street artists ‘Street Art Drop’ where artists will paint original pop art canvas then hiding them around the town. If you find them you can keep them, it’s an art sensation, come along and join the chase for free art.
Lots of workshops for the kids and adults too (you can book these via the website www.createhenley.co.uk) will be happening along with a Farmers Market in the town centre and Lady Sew and Sew will have an array of creative things for people to take part in. Local Design guru Niki Shafer, designer, blogger and author of ‘Creating Space’ will be giving a talk on Saturday from 2-3pm in the Town Hall on . ‘How to CREATE your dream home’ .Not to forget of course the fantastic Love Local Market run by Sarah Kirk and myself.
If you’re looking for something special to buy for yourself (maybe a Mothers Day treat) then there are so many amazing local artisans showcasing their work at the Love Local Market in Henley Town Hall. If you’re a buyer or own a shop and you’re looking for the next big thing or something original then do stop by, some of the talent we have showcased has gone on to be spotted by websites such as Rocket St George and Love Nellie.
The Love Local Market in Henley-on-Thames has been a passion of mine along with my business partner Sarah Kirk for the last three years. We love supporting small local business who have an amazing amount of talent but often struggle to get their products to market when competing with the giants of the high street. There really are so many super talented and creative people out there and this weekend is a chance for us to support their work. Sarah and I just love the idea of a market that sells quality, original things all made on our doorstep.
So if your local be sure to stop by and if you’re not come and visit, it’s going to be fun. I have just seen the weather forecast and the sun WILL be shinning. Henley-on-Thames as a town to wonder around is none to shabby either, head down to the river after visiting us and treat yourself to an ice cream or feed the ducks!
Hope to see you over the weekend.
